Point of View

With this exercise we had to photograph one object from a number of different points of view.

This exercise was good in showing that the same object can look remarkably different when shot from different angles of view. The view I like the most of this eagle I took in the studio is the Above View. I love the lines the eagles wings are making and just feel it to be the most interesting and dynamic. I also like the side view.

Rule of Thirds

With this exercise we had to take two pictures; one utilIsing the rule of thirds and the other not.

RULE OF THIRDS

RULE OF THIRDS

#This first image is composed using the rule of thirds. I have positioned the subject off to the right of frame pointing inwards. By placing it there the image seems balanced, and the viewers eye has somewhere to travel within the frame.

NON RULE OF THIRDS

NON RULE OF THIRDS

# This second image could almost be classed as rule of thirds aswell, except that there is no room for the subject to ‘point’ into The lens of the camera in the picture is acting as a pointer and by placing it on the left hand side of frame and facing ‘out’ , it is closing down the space offered to the viewer. Overall, the framing is not as balanced and easy to look at as the above one.

Design Principles

This weeks task was to capture a number of images at Federation Square that embody particular design principles. Then we turned them into a cube! Here are examples of the images used and the final product.

LINE | The line of the wall draws the eye down to the cityscape.
